Tomorrow is the National Day of Divestment!
From 12pm-1pm students at UQ will be aiming to bring about action at our campus, while students all across Australia do the same at their respective universities. This is your chance to take action towards protecting our environment, as divestment is something that has the power to make a big difference. In short, divestment is the movement of funds away from those companies that support coal mining in Australia (of which UQ has several investments), in the aim to keep the coal in the ground.
It is no myth that environmental and human health go hand in hand, with the former directly related to the prevention of disease by creating a healthy living standard. Check out the video below for an overview:
The event will be taking place on the Forgan Smith Lawn - so throw on something orange and enjoy live music and cheap food while actually making a difference to our global future. For more information and event details, click here.
